Popular Christian YouTuber Sam Rader, one half of Sam and Nia, is admitting to having an Ashley Madison account after it was reported that he was linked to the website.

In a video posted to their YouTube channel on Friday titled “Forgiven,” the married father of two owned up to having a paid subscription to the site, which is targeted to people who are married or in committed relationships and are interested in pursuing affairs.

The couple became an Internet sensation earlier this month after they posted a YouTube video alleging that they had suffered a miscarriage, just days after Rader surprised his wife Nia with the news that she was pregnant with their third child.

“As you may have seen, my name has been associated with an Ashley Madison account website made for spouses who want to have an affair,” a somber Rader, with Nia by his side, says to the camera. “I’m here to clarify some of this with you guys because I owe it to you.”

“I did make the account – I made the account two years ago,” he confirms. “This is an issue that is in our past. This is before I got onto YouTube.”

The YouTube star explained that “at the time” he “brought this to the attention of the church,” as well as to his “wife’s attention.”

“She has forgiven me for this mistake that I made in opening the account,” Rader said, with Nia confirming his statement with a nod. “I’ve sought forgiveness from God and he’s forgiven me, so I’ve been completely cleansed of this sin.”

Rader made sure to emphasize that he “never” met a single person using the services of Ashley Madison and that he “never had an affair with anybody ever while I’ve been married with Nia.” The account was opened, Rader claims, for “pure fleshly desires and just simple curiosity.”

Rader also addressed criticisms he’s gotten from fans and the public at large questioning his Christian faith.

“We’re all broken, even Christians,” he says.

He maintained that the issue “is completely resolved within the family, within the church,” and indicated that “we’re sinful by nature and we do stupid things like this.”

His wife also commented on the situation, saying near the tail-end of the video, “It’s unfortunate that this is being dug up right now but our marriage is worth fighting for and it always will be.”

Daily Mail reported on Friday that in September 2013, Rader had reportedly made payments to Ashley Madison around the time he welcomed his second child with his wife and the couple celebrated their four-year wedding anniversary. He reportedly ceased payments to the website in November 2013.

This comes after reports surfaced that embattled 19 Kids and Counting star Josh Duggar was allegedly linked to two Ashley Madison accounts, prompting the 27-year-old to issue a statement.

“I have been the biggest hypocrite ever,” Duggar wrote in the original statement posted to the family site that has since been edited. “While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the Internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife.”
