This Girl Live Tweeted a Couple Breaking Up on an Airplane and It's Hilariously Tragic

This is certainly one type of in-flight entertainment. (And it’s free!)

Twitter user Kelly Keegs (aka @keegs141) was on a flight Sunday when she claims the couple seated across the aisle from her broke up. “This guy on the plane just broke up w his girlfriend and she's SOBBING,” she tweeted. And thus began #PlaneBreakup.

An important piece of information: Kelly says the breakup started during their flight delay. Which is to say, the plane hadn’t even taken off yet. They still had to sit next to each other until they arrived at their final destination.

Kelly started live tweeting it to some of her bemused friends:

Eventually, she realized all of Twitter wanted in on this journey and started live tweeting every amazingly horrific thing the in-flight exes said to each other.

The girl said things that sounded straight out of the worst rom-com ever.

And the guy said the one thing that no man should ever tell an upset woman.

UM, WHO IS CHARLOTTE?

And then things took a turn for the worse. No, not what you’re expecting.

Did you see that coming?? It’s like we’re in an M. Night Shyamalan movie.

#PlaneBreakup obviously started trending and became a No. 1 Trending Topic on Sunday night, and something like 10K new people started following Kelly to keep up with the split:

Meanwhile, Kelly was just trying to adapt to her newfound Twitter fame:

Kelly later told Barstool Sports the couple was apparently “SO drunk” and says, “I just thought they were loud and annoying at first...Then she SHRIEKED and started crying loud enough to capture the attention of everyone in the front of the plane.”

She adds they were “oblivious” to onboard spectators and continues, “The guy spilled the worlds biggest bloody mary on his khakis. He made 2 flight attendants come help him clean it all up while the (ex) girlfriend continued to sob in his face.”
