The Force may have awakened, but we’re still waiting for that trailer.
At the Star Wars convention back in April, director J.J. Abrams promised we would get a full-length Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer sometime in the very nebulous “fall.” We thought we might get it at D23; alas, Lucasfilm and Disney only their announced plans to make a Star Wars theme park. (Which admittedly, looks really, really, really, cool.)
Thankfully, they dropped a new teaser on Instagram Thursday, partially to showcase Insta’s new landscape option. More importantly: NEW FOOTAGE! Instagram loops video, so we’re just going to watch it for all eternity. (Or at least until Dec. 18 when The Force Awakens finally hits theaters.)
The 15-second clip starts with Supreme Leader Snoke’s (Andy Serkis) same voiceover, “There’s been an awakening...have you felt it?” and the shot of the Nazi-esque First Order from that Korean TV spot.
There’s a new shot of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and everyone’s favorite robot, BB-8.
Then we see Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) unsheathe his homemade lightsaber, the same clip we’ve been seeing since the first teaser trailer back in November. But this time it cuts to Finn (John Boyega) unsheathing his blue lightsaber! What’s happening here?! Are they about to duel in the forest?! Is the full-length trailer dropping soon?!?
ANYWAY, YES, WE FELT THE AWAKENING. WE FELT IT SO HARD.
Now, find out how The Force Awakens cast ruined the Chewbacca costume…by hugging it too much?!
