Bindi Irwin Shares Sweet Tribute to Her Late Father

celebrated Australia's Father's Day with a sweet tribute to her late father, Crocodile Hunter star Steve Irwin.

On Sunday, the Dancing With the Stars contestant shared a photo of her dad, who died in 2006 at age 44, training a crocodile.

"Thinking about home today. Father's Day is today in Australia and everyone is celebrating at Australia Zoo," Bindi, 17, Instagrammed to her 490,000 followers. "It's such a special time of year, I hope everyone who comes to the zoo today is able to enjoy it with our gorgeous animals. No matter where I am in the world, this day means such a lot to me. My heart forever lives @AustraliaZoo -- just like Dad's always did."

Bindi is in the states training with pro partner Derek Hough for her DWTS debut on Sept. 14. ET went behind-the-scenes with the dancing couple, where the Crocodile Hunter's daughter admitted this will be her first time wearing heels.

"They said, 'We're going to put you in these heels,' and I don't think they realized that I had never worn heels before so I stood up and instantly fell down," Bindi said. "Yeah, it was a good start to a great adventure."

She added, "It's kind of nice to step outside of my comfort zone and try some sparkles on. I'm going to try something new and different, and work with the heels and see if I can stand up!"
