'Black-ish' Star Anthony Anderson's Wife Files for Divorce After 16 Years

Black-ish star Anthony Anderson and wife Alivna are calling it quits after 16 years of marriage.

Divorce papers were filed by Alvina and cite irreconcilable differences. In the filings, Alvina asks for joint legal custody and primary physical custody of their 15-year-old son Nathan, with Anthony being allowed reasonable visitation. The couple also have a 19-year-old daughter, Kyra.

In addition to the issue of custody, the papers also request that Alvina receive spousal support.

Anthony and Alvina started out as high school sweethearts and wed in 1999, with the paperwork citing the date of separation as April 1, 2014.

The 45-year-old actor grew up in Compton, California and attended Howard University. After booking bit television roles in 1995 and 1996 on shows like The Wayans Bros. and In the House, he caught a break in 2003 with All About the Andersons, which he created and starred in. This year he was nominated for his first Primetime Emmy Award for his lead acting role in ABC's comedy Black-ish.
