Talk about a transformation.

Jessica Chastain shows a whole different side of herself in a dramatic new photoshoot for W magazine, sporting fuchsia hair and bold, drawn-on brows. The Martian actress also shows plenty of cleavage on the cover, donning a lacy black Givenchy dress.

While the look is definitely jarring for the 38-year-old actress' fans, Chastain herself clearly approves. "Loving my 3rd @wmag cover!" she wrote on Instagram.

The notoriously private star talks about the air of mystery surrounding her in the accompanying interview, despite starring in such high-profile films as The Help, Zero Dark Thirty, and Interstellar.

"I would hear, 'Who is the real Jessica?' a lot," she says. "I think of versatility as a good thing, but it does make it difficult for audiences to know you."

Still, Chastain points out the double standard when it comes to male actors.

"They rarely say that about men," she notes. "They never worry about 'knowing' them. One of my goals is to play a villain in a Bond film. People ask me if I want to be a Bond girl, and I say, 'No, I want to be the villain.' I'm waiting for that call!"

This isn't the first time Chastain has been outspoken about roles for women in Hollywood. Last December, she talked about the lack of diversity in the industry. "When I speak out I'm not doing it from a selfish place because I get incredible opportunities," she told Indiewire. "I'm speaking out as an audience member who is going to the cinema and noticing there's a problem here because I don't see women being represented. I don't see Asian-American actresses begin represented. I don't see women in their 60s being represented in film. ... There are these really fantastic actresses out there, but there are so few opportunities."

Not surprisingly, Chastain would like to keep her private life private in the new chat, though she does talk about her boyfriend, Gian Luca Passi di Preposulo. Chastain has been dating the Italian-born executive for Italian fashion brand Moncler for nearly four years.

"He's a gentleman, and that's very important to me," Chastain says. "He's from an old-school Italian family. No one in his family has ever been divorced!"
