What's a little friendly competition among musical BFFs?

Taylor Swift leads this year's American Music Awards nominations with six, while pal Ed Sheeran is hot on her heels with five (tying The Weeknd). But it looks like these besties will go head-to-head in four of those categories.

Swift and Sheeran are both nominated for Song of the Year (for "Blank Space" and "Thinking Out Loud," respectively), Favorite Album, Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist, and the big one -- Artist of the Year.

But they've got some stiff competition! Luke Bryan, Ariana Grande, Maroon 5, Nicki Minaj, One Direction, Sam Smith, Meghan Trainor and The Weeknd are also nominated for the night's top honor.

This year's AMAs will be hosted by Jennifer Lopez, who will also pull double duty with a performance, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Nov. 22. The show will air live at 8 p.m. ET, with a tape-delayed west coast broadcast, on ABC.

Here's hoping for a repeat of Swift and boyfriend Calvin Harris' front-row PDA from the Billboard Music Awards earlier this year! The DJ is nominated alongside David Guetta and Zedd for Favorite EDM Artist at this year's AMAs. Just yesterday, Harris blasted reports that he and Swift had broken up. See what he said in the video below.
