Daniel Radcliffe Says He Fell for His Girlfriend Erin Darke While Filming a Sex Scene

Daniel Radcliffe is getting REAL candid with Playboy magazine.

Talk about an unconventional "how we met" story.

Daniel Radcliffe opens up in a new interview with Playboy magazine about his girlfriend, actress Erin Darke, whom he's been dating since late 2012. The 26-year-old Harry Potter star met Darke on the set of his 2013 film How to Kill Your Darlings, when they filmed an intimate scene together. Radcliffe now admits that he was hardly acting during the steamy scene.

"That's a wonderful record of us flirting for the first time," Radcliffe says. "There's no acting going on -- not from my end, anyway. There's a moment when she makes me laugh, and I'm laughing as me and not as my character. She was incredibly funny and smart. I knew I was in trouble."

Radcliffe is remarkably candid in the interview, including the fact that he was a normal teenage boy -- hormones and all -- despite growing up on Harry Potter sets.

"Yeah, I was like every other teenager in that sense," the actor says when asked if he had time to masturbate while going through puberty. "My favorite line about masturbation is Louis C.K.'s, something like 'I found out about it when I was 11, and I didn't skip a day.' I think I started very early -- before my teens. But not when I was on set. I wasn't going, 'When is Alan Rickman going to nail this scene so I can run back to my trailer?'"

"There's another feeling, again perfectly described by Louis C.K.: that fear just after you've jerked off that everyone knows what you did," he explains. "It would have been embarrassing to walk back on set and look the dignitaries of British acting royalty in the eye, knowing what I'd been doing."

As for the types of roles Radcliffe can play following his iconic role, the 5'5" actor says height is not an issue.

"Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise have very different careers, and they're both about the same height as I am," he points out. "I could play a soldier. The minimum height for a marine is five feet, and I'm well above that. If you're asking, 'Can you play a really f**king tall person?' No, obviously not. Can I play a black guy? For similar reasons, no. I couldn't play something I wouldn't take myself seriously in."

Still, he does have one regret when it comes to his stature.

"I wouldn't be able to take myself seriously as the quarterback in a football movie, which is my one legitimate gripe," he surprisingly says. "I would love to be in a football movie. The only part I would get is the general manager."

Though Radcliffe acknowledges that he'll probably always be known for his Harry Potter days.

"It feels like I get recognized more now," he shares. "Here's what's scary: If you were 14 when the first film came out, you'd now be almost in your 30s and could well have a child under 10 whom you're now introducing to Harry Potter. We're already getting the next generation. That's just bizarre. It's never going away."

In August, Man of Steel star Henry Cavill also admitted that it's not always 100 percent acting when it comes to filming sex scenes. The 32-year-old actor dished to Men's Fitness on the many sex scenes he had to shoot for his breakout role on Showtime's The Tudors -- specifically, that one time he got an accidental erection.

"I had to apologize profusely afterward," he said. "It's not great when you're in a professional acting environment and somebody gets a boner, is it? No, not acceptable."
