It's only been a few days since Chris Rock was confirmed to host the Oscars, and already he's raising eyebrows with a new tweet.
On Thursday night, the 50-year-old comedian tweeted a joke about Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian deciding to stay married after the former NBA pro was found unresponsive at a Nevada brothel on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The joke, however, did not belong to him.
The message came from Soomeecards and reads: "Here's to Lamar Odom on being the first guy in history to have coke and hookers save his marriage."
While the joke is a bit shocking considering Odom is still being hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, Rock also tweeted his support for the 35-year-old athlete. "Stay strong Lamar," he wrote.
Some of Rock's 3.9 million Twitter followers seemed conflicted about the tweet.
"@chrisrock Not sure if I should consider this inappropriate or hail you as a goddamn genius," one response read.
"We laughed, We favorited but we won't retweet...sooo messed up LOL," Twitter handle Rusty and Sugar replied.
Other tweets slammed Rock's timing in making jokes about Odom's situation.
"Too soon. shame on you, Rock," one of his followers wrote.
"Way too soon for this," read another tweet.
What do you think of Rock's tweet? Is it too soon?
Odom came out of his coma last Friday while in the ICU at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas. After showing improvement, he was transported by to L.A. Khloe has been by his side nearly every step of the way.
