Celebrity Makeup Artist Jake Bailey Dies at 37, Read Emmy Rossum's Heartbreaking Tribute

Makeup artist and photographer to the stars, Jake Bailey, has died at 37 of a possible suicide, ET has confirmed.

The Los Angeles County Coroner's office confirms that Bailey was found unconscious at his residence at 8:25 am on Friday. With an autopsy still pending, officials are reporting the cause of death as a possible suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning.

Bailey worked with celebrities including Lea Michele, Christina Aguilera, Angelina Jolie, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Katy Perry and, most recently, Selena Gomez.

Shameless star Emmy Rossum posted a heartbreaking tribute to Bailey on her Twitter account Friday, revealing that she had seen just seen him over the weekend.

"I am gutted to hear of my friend Jake's passing. I saw him on Sunday, we flew together on a plane. He made me laugh as always," she wrote. "I will miss his sense of humor, talent and kindness."

"If there are angels in heaven, they just got a little prettier," she continued. "Because Jake is up there painting their faces... putting lashes on them..."

Octavia Spencer also remembered Bailey on her account.

"Is this RIP Jake Bailey real. Oh no! Please tell me it's a twitter hoax," she wrote. "My thoughts and prayers are with those who knew and loved #JakeBailey."

A rep for Bailey with Starworks Artists issued the following statement to ET on Friday.


It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Jake Bailey's passing. He was an undeniable talent, a great friend, a loving son and brother, and our grief is shared with all those whose lives he's touched.


As one of the industry's most sought after makeup artists, Jake worked with an incredible client roster and his work has been featured in publications such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue Italia, Vanity Fair, and Allure. He collaborated with some of the top photographers in the fashion and entertainment industries and was also a passionate photographer himself. Jake was a mentor to many, and his work will continue to inspire. He will be truly missed by those who knew him.
