A wardrobe trailer on the set of Tom Cruise's new film, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, went up in flames on Saturday in Louisiana.

The 53-year-old actor -- who was in his own trailer getting makeup done for his next scene -- was just yards away from the fire that erupted spontaneously in a small town outside of New Orleans.

The blaze started abruptly after it "sounded like a generator over heated," according to a source. Smoke erupted from the top of the trailer, which is when the crew realized it was about to go up into flames, the source adds.

An eyewitness tells ET that the crew on set was able to partially put out the fire, which helped contain it before four firetrucks arrived to the scene and finished the job.

Luckily, no one was injured, according to the source.
