Just like practically every other iconic show in TV history, Star Trek is also getting a flashy new reboot. CBS Television Studios announced on Monday morning that the network will launch a completely new Star Trek TV series in January 2017.

The new series will blast off with a special preview broadcast on the CBS Television Network. Then, in an effort to keep up with the streaming services, all subsequent episodes will be available on CBS' digital subscription service, CBS All Access.

According to CBS' press release, the new Star Trek series will "introduce new characters seeking imaginative new worlds and new civilizations, while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been a signature of the franchise since its inception in 1966."

Alex Kurtzman, the co-writer and producer of the blockbuster films, Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness, will executive produce the series.
