David Beckham Named People's 2015 Sexiest Man Alive
People Magazine has crowned 2015’s Sexiest Man Alive: David Beckham!
Jimmy Kimmel broke the news on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday night, announcing that the former soccer star scored this year’s coveted honor. The 40-year-old Brit took the title from Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, who held the honor in 2014.
“It’s the best moment of my career,” Beckham half-jokingly said. “I can’t believe it.”

Though people had speculated that Chris Pratt, Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron were all possibilities, a guessing game revealed that the stud in question was not actually an actor nor American. Members of Kimmel’s audience also narrowed down that the mystery man was married to a celebrity (he and wife Victoria Beckham got hitched in 1999), had kids (the couple are parents to three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz, and daughter Harper), had never been to jail and had, in fact, sported a man bun.
“I would honestly like to thank my parents for bringing me into this world,” Beckham, who has done modeling work for Calvin Klein and H&M since retiring from professional soccer in 2013, said of the honor. “I want to thank my hairdresser, my stylist…”

People teased the announcement earlier in the day with this strategically-placed Instagram shot of Beckham at his cover photoshoot, and Kimmel shared a tease of his own that had fans speculating on the identity of the denim-clad hunk.
As for the other sexiest men -- namely Kimmel’s “nemesis” Matt Damon and audience favorite Nick Carter -- who didn’t take top honors, Beckham said with a laugh, “I would like to say, ‘Maybe next year.’”
