Lance Bass is not holding back!

The former *NSYNC singer is opening up in the January/February Hollywood issue of BELLA New York about his "therapeutic" coming out and his year as a newlywed -- and only ET has the exclusive preview of his candid interview.

Bass, 36, admits to the magazine that he wishes he could give his younger self a very important piece of advice: "Come out of the closet immediately."

"I would have had a different life," Bass says. "I would have enjoyed myself more and I wouldn't have had to hide something major in my life from the whole world. It separated me from my friends and family and so I would love to get those younger years back."

Bass confesses that the reason he wrote his memoir, Out of Sync, in 2007 was to publicly come out of the closet. "It's something I hid for so long," he notes. "I kind of wanted to disappear for a little bit and let that digest because it was odd being that vulnerable to the world after being so hidden."

"It was a little freaky, and I felt writing a memoir was very therapeutic," he continues. "To be able to tell that coming out story and know that you are hopefully helping some other gay kid out there relate to your story is an honor to do that."

This month, Bass will celebrate his one-year anniversary with his husband, Michael Turchin. The couple married in front of their closest friends and family on Dec. 20, 2014 at the Park Plaza Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles.

After one year of marriage, Bass is thankful to Turchin for keeping him "grounded" at all times.

"He's very supportive of me, and totally understands what I'm going through," Bass says in regards to his hectic schedule. "If I didn't have him, if I didn't have that partner, I would probably be going crazy right now."

"It's great to have someone who helps take care of you,' Bass shares. "I love taking care of other people, but it's hard to take care of myself, so it's nice to have someone who has your back and wants to see the best for you."
