Ed Sheeran is taking a well-deserved break from music, and he's decided to take a break from social media as well.
The "Thinking Out Loud" singer took to Instagram on Saturday to announce that he will be taking a respite from "my phone, emails and all social media for a while."
The 24-year-old musician says that he's had a great time sharing his life online for the past five years, but laments that he finds himself "seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes."
"I'm taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed," wrote Sheeran, who wrapped up his 179-show x Tour the same day he posted this message to his fans.
Sheeran recently revealed that he will be undergoing surgery in January for a busted eardrum -- which he suffered when he jumped off a yacht into the ocean during a trip to Spain -- and he will use his recuperation time to enjoy life away from the spotlight.
Sheeran also addressed his upcoming third album, which he says is "on its way" and also promises that it will be "the best thing I have made thus far."
"See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing," Sheeran concluded.
Hopefully he won't forget the sweet moves he learned for his "Thinking Out Loud" music video during his lengthy hiatus! Check out the video below to hear how Sheeran learned how to dance like a pro.
