Gigi Hadid appreciates the important of friendship, and her cultural heritage.
The 20-year-old model took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a photo of her hand -- and the hands of some of her oldest friends -- covered in intricately-drawn henna designs.

"Had the best night with some of my oldest friends last night. Feel so blessed to have a foundation of friendships that will bond us for the rest of our lives," Hadid wrote in the caption. "The way we can all sit around and talk like the clock's been turned back 10 years is the most beautiful and grounding feeling."

In the spirit of togetherness that accompanies the season, Hadid shared her thoughts on what really matters around this holidays.
"It's so important to be with the families that raised you and the friends that were raised with yours," she wrote.
However, her message concluded on a bit of a defensive note. Anticipating that she might get flack for perceived "cultural appropriation" due to the henna art, Hadid wrote, "Check out the last name. Hadid. Half Palestinian and proud of it."
