Madonna says it's possible to be both a material girl and a good mom.
The 57–year-old music icon, who recently made headlines for her international custody battle with ex-husband Guy Ritchie over their son Rocco, is fighting back at claims that she's an unfit parent.
In a photo posted to Instagram on Saturday, the mother-of-four cuddles up with her children, Lourdes, 19, Rocco, 15, David, 10, and Mercy, 9.
“It’s possible to be an entertainer and a good mother!!!” she wrote. “Too bad we don't live in a society where many encourage strong independent single working moms! The next great Frontier! ❤️#revolutionoflove continues ❤️#rebelheart4ever.”
On Saturday night, Madonna brought along Mercy and David to her ex Sean Penn's 5th Annual Help Haiti Home Gala, benefiting J/P Haitian Relief Organization, in Beverly Hills, California. "A Good Night Was had by All!!" she Instagrammed. "Mercy James and David Banda shining bright for Haiti."
The singer also gave a speech where she praised Penn. "I want to say Sean, I love you, from the moment that I laid eyes on you," she gushed.
Meanwhile, a second custody hearing is set for February 3 in New York City. The hearing was set after Rocco went to visit his father in London and refused to come back to the United States, despite being ordered to do so by a judge.
Madonna isn’t the only star challenging society’s views on motherhood. On Thursday, Alyssa Milano and Wendy Williams got into a disagreement over public breastfeeding. To see what the Charmed actress had to say, watch the video below.
