The rock star and former model shared countless sweet moments during their two decades together.

David Bowie may be gone, but his love story with Iman will live on.

The legendary rocker died at the age of 69 on Sunday, "surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer." That includes his wife, the one-time fashion model, who fell for David over two decades ago -- and vice versa -- and the two were inseparable ever since.

Here is a look back at some of the sweetest moments of the couple’s romance:

1990:
David and Iman meet at a dinner party shortly after she's retired from modeling, and, for the rock star, it was love at first sight. "My attraction to her was immediate and all-encompassing,” David told HELLO! magazine in 2000.

"That she would be my wife, in my head, was a done deal,” he gushed. “I'd never gone after anything in my life with such passion in all my life. I just knew she was the one."

For her part, Iman says she knew he was the one two weeks into dating. "I was coming from Paris and I got to L.A. at the airport,” she told The Cut in 2011. “The doors open to the plane and I come out and I see all these people taking a picture of somebody…He was standing there, flowers in hand, no security. That was when I knew he was a keeper."

Nov. 29, 1990:
The couple make their first public appearance at the “7th on Sale” event to benefit AIDS research.

Years later, Iman admitted she was initially hesitant about dating a rock star. “Definitely I didn't want to get into a relationship with somebody like him. But as I always said: I fell in love with David Jones,” she told The Guardian in 2004. “I did not fall in love with David Bowie. Bowie is just a persona. He's a singer, an entertainer. David Jones is a man I met."

June 6, 1992:
David and Iman marry in Tuscany, Italy, a month and a half after first swapping vows in Switzerland.

When she reflected on her wedding in 2012, Iman recalled, “It rained!...They said ‘Oh you shouldn’t complain, you’re going to be married for 50 years, it’s going to be happy.’ And they were right.”

1995:
Iman is photographed by Bruce Weber for Vogue, once again, though this time she did it with David by her side. It was the first and only time the couple shot something together, which Iman would later say was the secret to their marriage.

“I think you’ve got to feel hot for each other and respect each other. That’s where it starts,” she told Naomi Campbell in an Interview Q&A. “Also, we are very private so we decided from early on that we will keep the press and editors and everybody out of our house.”

Hello

Aug. 15, 2000:
The couple welcome their first daughter together, Alexandria Zahra Jones. (Each has a child from a previous marriage too -- Duncan Jones, now 43, from his marriage with Angela Bowie, and Zulekha Haywood, now 37, from her marriage to Spencer Haywood.)

Alexandria is presented to the world on the cover of HELLO! “We’ve always been very close, but if it’s possible we’ve been drawn even closer,” Iman tells the magazine. “There’s a joy or a contentment that’s almost palpable to both of us. Overnight, our lives have been enriched beyond belief.”

Nov. 9, 2010:
Iman adorably reveals in a Harper’s Bazaar interview that she still “fancies” her husband two decades later. “David doesn't fight. He is English, so he just stays quiet. I'm the screamer,” she said. “Then he always makes me laugh. It's like cabaret. I keep him entertained too. I still fancy him -- totally! -- after all these years.”

Iman goes on to name her favorite Bowie songs -- “Heroes” and “Suffragette City,” the latter of which she says “always gets me dancing with my little girl, Lexi” -- and calls David a “gentle soul.”
