David Margulies, 'Ghostbusters' Actor, Dies at 78

David Margulies, best known for playing the mayor of New York in the Ghostbusters movies, has died. ET has learned. He was 78.

The actor's manager confirmed his death to ET on Tuesday.

In addition to the classic comedy film franchise, Margulies also appeared in A Most Violent Year, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, All That Jazz, Celebrity and Ishtar. He made his film debut in the 1971 rom-com A New Leaf, starring Walter Matthau and Elaine May.

His small screen credits include The Sopranos, in which he played Tony Soprano's lawyer, Kojak, NYPD Blue, Law & Order, Chicago Hope and The Good Wife.
