The boy bander opened up about Carter's arrest for misdemeanor battery on 'The Kramer and Geena Morning Show.'

A.J. McLean has spoken out about fellow Backstreet Boys bandmate Nick Carter’s arrest.

“I feel sorry for him,” the 38-year-old singer admitted.

Carter was arrested on Wednesday for one misdemeanor count of battery, after the 35-year-old “appeared intoxicated” and allegedly got into a bar fight in Key West, Florida.

“Nick’s dealt with his demons. He’s a good kid,” McLean said on The Kramer and Geena Morning Show. “He really has been on top of his game, between Dancing With the Stars and getting ready for fatherhood… He really is very, very level headed.”

McLean, who said he has not yet spoken with Carter, continued, “You know, he went out, had a couple drinks and something, unfortunately, went array. It does happen. He’s human, and people make mistakes. Lord knows I’ve made plenty of them.”

Carter was taken in to custody after the general manager of the Hog’s Breath Saloon claims he witnessed either Carter or his friend, Michael Papayans, throw a punch at an employee. The two had previously been refused service due to their level of intoxication.

“You kind of have to laugh these things, otherwise you’re just going to mope around and hang your head low,” McLean added.

In October, Carter and his wife, Lauren Kitt, revealed they are expecting their first child, a baby boy, this year. "I knew she'd be the best mother,” Carter later told ET.

The BSB singer, who came in second on his season of DWTS, also opened up to ET in November about why he quit drugs and alcohol.

"I was gaining weight at the time, the color in my face was gone," he recalled. "I was able to look in the mirror at one point and said to myself, ‘I don't want to be that person that you turn on the television and they're saying, ‘We feel really bad, because he died.'"
