Mariah Carey Is Engaged to Billionaire James Packer
Congrats are in order for Mariah Carey and her billionaire beau James Packer!
The singer is set to tie the knot with her Australian businessman boyfriend, after Packer popped the question in New York City on Thursday night, ET confirms.
E! News reports that Carey’s engagement ring comes in at a massive 35 carats.
The 45-year-old singer opened up about how she met Packer, 48, in an interview with Steve Harvey back in November.
"We first met in Aspen," she told the talk-show host. "We were at the Hercules premiere. We were talking and laughing and people were getting mad at us and stuff like that. So we hit it off."
When Harvey mused that Packer is "a lucky guy," Carey -- who donned a stunning necklace by Van Cleef & Arpels, a gift from the billionaire -- sweetly responded: "I'm lucky too."
"Oh, this old thing?" she teased. "[It was] a very, very big surprise, very nice."

Carey and Packer made their red carpet debut together at The Intern premiere in September, where an eyewitness told ET the couple looked “really cute together" and "seemed very happy."
"James was leading Mariah through the theatre room and had his hand on her back. Mariah looked very proud to be there with James," an eyewitness told ET at the time. "He seemed a little more under the radar than she is but looked at her very adoringly and happy."

The following month, Carey opened up to ET about the outing.
"I don't think either one of us thought, 'Here we are, making a debut,' he's not that guy," Carey said on the set of her Hallmark Channel holiday movie, A Christmas Melody. "It was a lot for him. ... I just automatically pose. I can't help it!"
It will be the third marriage for Packer, who has three children from his marriage to Australian model and singer Erica Baxter.
Carey was married to actor and comedian Nick Cannon from 2008-2014, with whom she shares 4-year-old fraternal twins, Monroe and Moroccan.
