It turns out Cindy Crawford isn't planning on retiring after all.

The celebrated fashion model, who turns 50 later this month, took to Instagram on Monday to explain comments she recently made during an interview that implied she was going to quit modeling.

"Every year, I tell my kids I'm retiring. It's a running joke in our family. And yet every year, opportunities pop up that really excite me," Crawford wrote alongside a sultry black-and-white photo of herself. "While it's true that I'm eager to shift my focus a bit to concentrate on my businesses, friends and family — I'm not making any final statements."

"I have loved being part of the fashion industry for the past 30 years — and if that time has taught me anything, it's this: never say never," Crawford continued. "Thanks for all the support, I'm so excited for what 2016 holds!"

The fashion icon and mother of two recently said in an interview with United Airlines' in-flight magazine Hemispheres, "I'm sure I'll have my picture taken for 10 more years, but not as a model anymore. And that's OK."

"I've worked with all these incredible photographers. What else do I need to do?" added Crawford, who quit full-time modeling in 2000, but continues to periodically pose professionally. "I can't keep reinventing myself. I shouldn't have to keep proving myself. I don't want to."

Clearly, Crawford has interests and ventures outside the realm of modeling, but she's not ready to shut down any possibilities if they are right for her.
