Mark Zuckerberg Shares Daughter's Chinese Name Ahead of Chinese New Year Celebrations

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan appeared in a video on Saturday wishing their followers a prosperous Chinese New Year -- and they had a special surprise: The Chinese name for baby daughter Maxima!

The couple was joined in the video, released on Zuckerberg's Facebook page, by 2-month-old Max dressed in an adorable red and gold traditional Chinese outfit.

"From our little family to yours, we wish you health and prosperity in the new monkey year," said Chan, who married Zuckerberg in 2012.

Happy Lunar New Year from Priscilla, Max and me! In the Year of the Monkey, I hope you and all your loved ones find happiness, health and good fortune.

The Facebook founder said he and Chan were excited to celebrate their first Lunar New Year with Max. He gamely relayed the message entirely in Mandarin, although subtitles were provided in both English and Chinese.

"This is also a meaningful holiday for Max because we have chosen her Chinese name," the 31-year-old entrepreneur revealed. "Her name is Chen Mingyu. Chen after her mother's family name, and Mingyu represents our hope for a brighter tomorrow."

Throughout the video the new parents couldn't keep their eyes off Max, who made them smile and laugh with her gurgling and antics.

Zuckerberg also revealed that Facebook employees were treated to food prepared by famous Chinese chefs for the holiday.

The Chinese New Year is Feb. 8 in 2016, and marks the turn of the lunar calendar. This year will be the year of the monkey.
