Katy Perry
has left fans scratching their heads over who her latest Instagram snap is aimed at.

The 31-year-old singer shared a quote about "true" friends on Friday, quoting, "Chang-an writes, 'If one befriends another person but lacks the mercy to correct him, one is in fact his enemy.' The consequences of a grave offense are extremely difficult to erase. The most important thing is to continually strengthen our wish to benefit others.' —Nichiren."

Perry helped break down the message, captioning the picture, "Aka if they ya true homie and they ain't actin right, smack em wit love or else they gonna get k.o. from the universe n s**t."

It's unclear who the message is about, but the timing is interesting. Earlier this week, indie-pop singer Ryn Weaver went off on Perry.

In a Twitter rant, which has since been deleted, Weaver recalls the "Dark Horse" singer being a “bully” when the two were at the same event.

The vent session started after Perry alerted her fans that she would be performing at a Hillary Clinton campaign event via Twitter.

Weaver responded to the tweet by replaying, “LOLOLOL SORRY NOT SORRY OLEASE OPEN UR EYES. THIS TWEET IS IGNORANT IF NOT FUNDED BYE.”

The "Octahate" singer then explained that her distaste for Perry came after an incident at the Coachella Festival last year, after Perry allegedly ignored Weaver, then said rude things within earshot.

"She proceeded to alert her entire posse saying 'That Ryn Weaver girl is soooo obsessed with me' loud enough for my entire group of friends to hear. While talking the WHOLE NIGHT loud enough for me to hear, after pretending I didn't even exist," Weaver reportedly wrote.

Weaver deleted the majority of the tweets, though she did leave a couple up, including one that read, "Only shared a real life industry bully story because people asked. I've met so many gracious artists. I don't go lie. Sorry."

"Artists are meant to speak their mind in their art... But be mutes when it comes to their experiences.. Yet write about.. Their experiences?" she added.

This isn't the first singer Perry has had a problem with. She has a long history of squabbles with other Hollywood A-listers, including Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift.
