Celebrities and politicians took to social media to pay their tributes to the former First Lady.

Nancy Reagan may be gone, but her powerful impact lives on.

Immediately after news broke that Reagan died on Sunday from congestive heart failure, her friends and family took to social media to pay tribute to the former First Lady of the United States.

Kristin Chenoweth called Reagan "the embodiment of class and grace."

The sentiment was echoed by Melissa Joan Hart, who wrote, "Farewell to one of America's great women #NancyReagan. It was a pleasure to shake your hand and be in your presence for so many wonderful #ronaldreaganlibrary events!"

Many of the 2016 presidential hopefuls shared their thoughts and prayers as well, including Donald Trump, who wrote, "Nancy Reagan, the wife of a truly great President, was an amazing woman. She will be missed!"

Ted Cruz tweeted a similar message, writing, "Nancy Reagan will be remembered for her deep passion for this nation and love for her husband, Ronald. The Reagan family is in our prayers."

Marco Rubio tweeted, "Today our nation mourns the loss of Nancy Reagan, a true example of integrity and grace. My prayers are with the entire Reagan family."

Bernie Sanders called today "a sad day for America," adding, "Nancy Reagan had a good heart, and she will be dearly missed."

Arnold Schwarzenegger's tribute was just as heartwarming. "Nancy Reagan was one of my heroes," he wrote. "She served as First Lady with unbelievable power, class and grace and left her mark on the world. She's with her Ronnie now, but those of us she left behind will miss her dearly."
