Elle Woods herself shared her sweet memories of working with Moonie, the dog who played Bruiser.

Not even a bend and snap could brighten our day after hearing this news.

Moonie, the Chihuahua who iconically played Bruiser Woods in Legally Blonde, died on Thursday. Reese Witherspoon, his former co-star and onscreen mom, posted a sweet tribute to the dog on Instagram.

"With a sad heart, I have to let all the #LegallyBlonde fans know that Bruiser Woods (also known as Moonie) passed away yesterday," she wrote. "He was a sweet little Chihuahua who was very loved. I will never forget all the days we spent together…I'm sure his tail is wagging in the sky."

Moonie's trainer, Sue Chip, shared a photo of Witherspoon and the dog during the actress' Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in 2010, captioning it, "He was a whopping 18 years old. I remember the day I brought him home as a puppy."

Sadly, this also means that if and when Legally Blonde 3 happens, Bruiser will need to be recast.

"The screeners wrote me and they said they were going to think about it," Witherspoon told ET about another installment. She previously said she would love to do it, explaining, "I actually think it's kind of great right now because we're talking about women in politics and how important that is to get more women."
