O'Brien plays Thomas in the Maze Runner franchise and he spoke to ET in September about a minor injury he sustained while recreating an epic slide he did for Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.

"It involves a splinter in my toe," O'Brien told ET at the time. "It scared me from sliding around, but I just started to do it again. It's my most favorite thing to do ever because I love baseball."

Production on the upcoming Maze Runner sequel is expected to shut down until O'Brien recovers.
