The 'Legends of Tomorrow' actor revealed that Ellen was 'scared' people wouldn't watch her show.

Here's some juicy old school Hollywood gossip for you.

Back in the '90s, there were rumors that Ellen DeGeneres was dating actor Johnathon Schaech, as the two stepped out together for a number of red carpets, including the Coneheads premiere in 1993 and the 1st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in 1995. Now, Schaech has admitted it was a setup.

"My manager asked me to accompany her to events. She was scared people would not watch the show, her sitcom Ellen, because she was gay," he revealed in a Reddit Ask Me Anything. "It was an honor."

"I grew up with two gay aunts and a gay uncle. My aunt died of cancer. She was a proud woman and she didn't get proper care because she didn't want to be away from her partner," he explained. "Hospitals didn't allow partners the same rights as a spouse. When you have someone you love in your life that is gay or a lesbian, it's very clear that they deserve the same rights as anyone else. It's not about religion. If you don't love ELLEN now -- you don’t watch her show. She's a great example for the human race."

Two years after those SAG Awards, DeGeneres came out on the cover of Time magazine and then her sitcom character made the same announcement on air. Now, the daytime host is married to Portia de Rossi.

"I was supposed to perform in her coming out episode, but I ran the marathon and couldn't walk the next day," Schaech also revealed. "The network fired me cause they thought I was lame. I was lame, DONT RUN A MARATHON when your [sic] given a great gift."

Schaech, who will next play Jonah Hex on CW's Legends of Tomorrow, also opened up about his other famous exes: Christina Applegate, whom he married in 2001 and split from four years later, and country singer Jana Kramer, whom he married in 2010 before they called it off a month later.

"Jana Kramer and I had a wedding but we were never married," he said of the latter. "It simply came down to this. She wasn’t ready to be married. She wanted a singing career and that was what she was focused on. So when [my son] Camden googles my name in five years -- Wikipedia will show my past relationships. He won’t see any gossip on either one. Jana or Christina. Just that I was a little bit country with Jana and a little bit rock and roll with Christina!!! And that it all worked out for the best."
