From the White House to the dorms. On Sunday, it was officially announced that Malia Obama, the eldest daughter of Barack and Michelle Obama, would be attending Harvard University. The 17-year-old will be taking a gap year before starting school with the Class of 2021.
President Obama attended both Occidental College and Columbia University and the first lady was a Princeton University graduate.
The president revealed at this weekend’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner that their family would be staying in Washington, D.C. after his term ends so that their youngest daughter, Sasha, could finish high school.
Back in March the two girls attended their first State Dinner, and their proud mom gushed about the experience to ET.
“I realized that they hadn't been to a State Dinner," Michelle told ET. "I thought, when I look back on this time, when they are talking to their kids and they are like, 'Mom, did you ever go to a State Dinner?' and they say no, I would feel pretty bad about that. So, we thought, 'We're going to invite them to one.' And they got to do the big girl dress-up thing."
