Singer Christina Grimmie will be laid to rest later this week, a source confirms to ET. The 22-year-old former Voice star and YouTube sensation will have a funeral in her home state of New Jersey.
The details of the event are being kept private for security reasons, the source tells ET.
Grimmie was shot and killed after her concert in Orlando, Florida, on Friday night at a fan meet and greet. The gunman was tackled by Grimmie’s older brother, Marcus, and later took his own life.
A vigil was held for the beloved singer on Monday night in her hometown of Evesham Township, New Jersey. Marcus spoke at the event, acknowledging the horrific shooting in Orlando that took place just one day after his sister’s death.
“About four miles away from where we were staying, there was a huge tragedy to Orlando, to the U.S., the LGBT community and to the whole world,” Marcus told the crowd. “To those people that died and are suffering, my heart goes out.”
Grimmie’s former Voice coach, Adam Levine, has offered to pay for her funeral service, and there has been an outpouring of love and support from celebrity fans of the singer.
Selena Gomez broke down in tears after dedicating a worship song to Grimmie in concert. The Disney alum also posted a sweet selfie with her late friend to Twitter, writing, “My heart is absolutely broken. I miss you Christina.”
