Singer John Stevens is recovering from serious injuries after he was hit by a van while out for a run in Chelsea, Massachusetts.

The 28-year-old former American Idol contestant revealed on Facebook that he suffered a fractured skull and a broken arm as a result of the accident, which occurred last week. He also might lose all hearing in his right ear.

"I was hit by a van while out for a run and suffered a fractured skull and dislocated and broken arm," Stevens wrote. "Among other injuries and disorders I'm dealing with, it appears I will have some, if not total deafness in my right ear."

Stevens said he is now with his parents in Buffalo, New York, to heal and recover since he is currently unable to work.

"Thank you very much for all of the well wishes and prayers," he wrote to his fans, also thanking hospital staff. "It truly means a lot to me."

Stevens was wearing headphones while jogging when he was struck on June 20, according to the Boston Globe. The driver of the van is not being charged as the accident didn’t occur in a crosswalk, and a witness said the van was not speeding.

Stevens memorably competed on season three of American Idol in 2004. The baby-faced crooner -- who was 16 at the time -- became known for his old school style, singing the likes of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. He ended up placing sixth.
