The wait is over – The Walking Dead season 7 trailer is finally here!
It's been three months since the season six finale and although the next season doesn't debut until Oct. 23, AMC has officially released the first sneak peek at the show's next chapter.
Warning, if you have not watched last season's finale, stop reading now!
The new trailer, which was first shown at Comic-Con on Friday, picked up right where season six left off… with Negan!
"I'm going to beat the holy hell out of one of you," Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, says as the trailer begins.
What comes next is an eerie video montage of all of your favorite character's lives as Negan walks back and forth saying, "eeny, meeny, miny, moe…" to decide which person will die.
The bone-chilling mix of photos and the fear across each person's face is only disrupted by images of Negan's weapon – the terrifying bat wrapped in barbed wire – dripping with blood.
Although there is no real clue as to who is on the receiving end of the bat, you do see glimpses of life in town with Negan as the big baddie.
"People call him this psychotic guy but I never looked at him like that," Morgan told ET after the season six finale premiered. "I think there's a lot of similarities between him and Rick. If we were following Negan's story from day one of The Walking Dead, the audience would be rooting for him. They have very parallel storylines."
"But as an actor, I approach it as a guy that's a survivor and we're going to see Negan do some stuff in the next year that is not going to be very nice," Morgan concluded. "You've attached yourself to these characters and this is going to be the guy that ruins that for you."
In addition to seeing Negan back in action, and lots of walkers on the outside of the Sanctuary, the trailer introduces a big new character. King Ezekiel, played by Khary Payton, welcomes you into the "The Kingdom," which is full of life, happiness and greenery, but he’s not alone. The king has a giant tiger named Shiva by his side!
Season seven of The Walking Dead premieres on Oct. 23 on AMC.
