It seems like just yesterday Jamie Lynn Spears welcomed her daughter, Maddie Aldridge, into the world and now she's starting third grade!
Spears, 25, shared an Instagram photo of her 8-year-old daughter standing outside of her elementary school on Thursday. In the snap, Maddie looks as cute as can be in her school uniform and backpack.
Maddie, who celebrated her eighth birthday with a "big girl" spa day in June, is right around the same age that Jamie Lynn was when big sister Britney Spears skyrocketed to fame.

In June, Jamie Lynn opened up to ET about that time in her life and what she'll do differently for Maddie this time around. "We were so naïve. We just weren't aware what a big deal things were," she told ET in retrospect.
"Truthfully, my childhood was so fun. Everything was new and everything was like Christmas, because we were just from this small town and my sister had amazing success. It was so amazing to see my sister reach such heights," she continued. "I think that with all that good, you don't expect the negative side. And I think, for me, it was just that I couldn't believe people can ever be so negative."
