Single By 30
, a new YouTube Red original series from YouTube filmmakers Wong Fu Productions, is a love story we can all relate to.

The eight-episode romantic comedy series follows the story of two high school friends, Peter (Glee's Harry Shum Jr.) and Joanna (YouTube musician Kina Grannis), who make an innocent pact over French fries and milkshakes to marry one another if they are both single by the age of 30.

Twelve years later, the two single adults miraculously reunite one night, which sounds like a picture-perfect dream. But in the confusing world of trying to find true love and seeking a soulmate through dating apps, will they be able to keep their backup-plan promise?

ET recently caught up with the cast and creators of the project, who teased that the "real" series, which exclusively debuts Wednesday on YouTube Red, includes "a lot of drama."

"Our channel, Wong Fu productions, is known for making relatable shorts about relationships, people and experiences," creator Wes Chan told ET's Brice Sander. "We thought there were a lot of funny moments and actually real moments in this idea of two people making a promise to get married by 30."

"I think it's representative of what people see -- it's human, it's what we all are," he continued. "The ultimate goal is for people to watch and feel, like, it could be them. And it really could be. We've all been through the 20s and that journey of finding out what love is."

Chan's co-creator, Phil Wang, echoed his statements, telling ET that the show is "very natural" and doesn't feel "forced."

"I think a lot of kids, when they're younger, they have this perception of what love is, and that [age] 30 is really far away," Wang explained. "So, you know, we heard a lot of friends have this pact, and we're like, 'What would happen actually if we got there,' and two people were actually thinking, 'Hey, we should actually do this?'"

"You're going to see Peter and Joanna, along with their two friends, kind of figure out what it means to fulfill this pact, or go through with it," he added. "And, of course, it doesn't go as planned."

Grannis, who stars as Joanna, admitted that before meeting the Wong Fu creators through YouTube, she was actually terrified of acting.

"When they asked me to be a part of this, it was such an exciting opportunity that I was totally down and ready to do it," she exclaimed. "They're so patient with me, because [acting] was my biggest fear in life, and they, like, forced me to do it years ago. And now I love it! So, I have them to thank."

ET also chatted with Grannis' co-star, Eric Ochoa, who said he was "extremely excited" about the series.

"I think the fans are going to love it," said Ochoa, who portrays Peter's friend Marc. "It's going to be very relatable."

"Mark is the old college roommate of Peter, and he hears this whole pact he’s got going on with Joanna," he continued. "He's like, 'What? Dude, just go ask her out!' [He's] very outgoing -- in the process, he ends up falling for [Joanna's] roommate. You see Mark go from this confident guy to this softie."
