Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles addressed a drug test leak detailing her medication on Monday, saying that the information is “nothing to be ashamed of.”
The gymnast shared a statement on social media, in which she confirmed that she takes medicine for ADHD.
“I have ADHD and have taken medicine for it since I was a kid,” the 19-year-old wrote on Twitter. “Please know, I believe in clean sport, have always followed the rules, and will continue to do so as fair play is critical to sport and is very important to me.”
“Having ADHD, and taking medicine for it is nothing to be ashamed of, nothing that I'm afraid to let people know,” the young athlete continued in another Tweet.

The posts come after hackers infiltrated the World Anti-Doping Agency’s database, breaching reports for athletes including Biles and tennis star Serena Williams.
USA Gymnastics has since confirmed that Biles submitted appropriate paperwork regarding her medication, was approved and had not violated any requirements.
