Kesha Files Protective Order Against Dr. Luke to Prevent Release of Medical Records
Pop star Kesha filed a protective order on Monday asking a Manhattan judge to prevent music producer Dr. Luke from releasing her personal medical records, after she was ordered to turn them over to him in their ongoing legal battle over allegations of sexual assault.
Kesha sued Dr. Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald, in 2014, accusing him of abusing her over the course of 10 years. The singer specifically alleged she was drugged and raped by the music producer, who signed Kesha to his label Kemosabe Records (a subsidiary of Sony) when she was just 18 years old.
Dr. Luke has adamantly denied the allegations from the start and subsequently counter-sued the singer and her mother for defamation.

Kesha was ordered by the courts to turn over her gynecological, psychiatric and rehabilitation records for the past 10 years to Dr. Luke’s legal team by September 30, and she complied. The issue? Dr. Luke rejected Kesha’s request to keep her medical and mental records confidential.
In the Manhattan Supreme Court protective order obtained by ET, Kesha’s attorney, James Pearl, states that Kesha “now fears that Gottwald will seek to disclose and disseminate her personal medical records in an attempt to embarrass and harass her.”
Over 900 pages of Kesha’s medical records were provided to Dr. Luke, according to the court filing.
Kesha “has disclosed highly sensitive personal medical records as part of this litigation, and her position as a world-renowned recording artist in whom there is great public interest renders any potential disclosure of those records potentially harmful to her personal and economic interests," Pearl wrote.
Dr. Luke had initially requested the court to order the release of Kesha’s medical records back in May, according to court documents.
In a statement to ET, Dr. Luke’s attorney, Christine Lepera said, "Kesha wants to hide her records, while continuing to make self-serving, selective and misleading statements to hurt my clients publicly.”
“We in fact offered to keep the records confidential pending the Court’s decision as to them,” Lepera added. “Kesha’s attorneys refused that offer, and instead filed their misleading motion for more press attacks on my clients."
A source close to Kesha told ET that the singer “is not claiming Dr. Luke has threatened to release her medical records to the media, but given that the music producer has maintained he has the right to use her medical records 'without condition,' he could release them publicly, and that is what they are trying to prevent."
During the contentious litigation, many celebrities have been vocal about their support for Kesha, including Lady Gaga, Lena Dunham, Lorde, Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea, Zedd, Halsey, Jack Antonoff, and Taylor Swift, who donated $250,000 to help Kesha “with any of her financial needs.”

Dr. Luke took to Twitter in February to maintain his innocence.
“I didn’t rape Kesha and I have never had sex with her. Kesha and I were friends for many years and she was like my little sister,” his tweet read.
As of now the court has not decided yet on whether to grant Kesha’s motion to make Dr. Luke keep her medical records confidential, a hearing has been set for October 26.
