Marcheline Bertrand passed away Saturday.

MARCHELINE BERTRAND, the mother of actress ANGELINA JOLIE, passed away Saturday after a long battle with ovarian cancer.

In a statement released by Jolie's manager, Bertrand died Saturday afternoon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Jolie, along with her partner BRAD PITT, raced back to Los Angeles to be at her mother's side at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Her older brother, JAMES, reportedly joined them at the hospital as well.

She spoke about her mom's fight with cancer for the first time on "LARRY KING Live" last month.

"She's doing good," Jolie said of her mother's condition at the time. "She's been battling -- you're the first person to ask about it -- she has for about six years, and she's a remarkable woman. She's very, very strong. Great doctors, and she is just -- her spirit is unbroken."

Jolie is the daughter of Bertrand and actor JON VOIGHT. The couple divorced when Jolie was a toddler, and Bertrand raised Jolie and her brother.

A private funeral is planned.

ET broke the news to Hollywood A-Listers at last night's Screen Actors Guild awards.

"My mom died of breast cancer a couple years ago," JAMES DENTON tells ET. "[She's] not alone, most of us go through it at one time or another."

WILL SMITH and his wife JADA expressed their sympathies, saying, 'We send our love absolutely."

"It's hard," Jada added. "I've lost quite a few family members, to cancer, it's a beast."

"There's no easy way through it," CATE BLANCHETT said. "It's terribly sad."
