Supermodel TYRA BANKS is taking the glamour out of lighting up when the ninth cycle of "America's Next Top Model" puts the 14 finalists in front of the camera for the first time -- and ET was exclusively behind the scenes for all the action!

"We have decided to take a stand against smoking," JAY MANUEL tells ET. "I, personally, think smoking is disgusting, and I know Tyra thinks so, too. I think to make a statement like this -- it might make a great role model for other young girls."

For their first shoot, each of the model hopefuls is first going to be made up to look glamorous as she sits smoking in front of a mirror. Then, they will return to hair and makeup for special effects makeup that will show the effects that smoking can have on the human body. The two shots will be made into a composite image that Tyra and Jay hope will elicit a strong reaction.

"I think Tyra had the right idea," Jay continues. "One of the ugly truths about the fashion industry as a whole is the whole smoking issue. A lot of girls smoke. It helps them lose weight they think, and it glamorizes smoking."

This season all 14 of the hopefuls are glamazons with "true model potential," according to Jay. None of them are under five-feet nine-inches, and there are a couple of plus-sized gals in the mix, but there are also several who haven't learned to just say "no" to cigarettes.

"I asked the girls if any of them smoke," Jay continues. "They started sheepishly raising their hands. I told them they might want to think about that during the day. When I first just talked about smoking, the girls reacted. You could tell they had thought about it."
