Brad intends to "Make It Right."

BRAD PITT continues his efforts to help out the victims of New Orleans' Hurricane Katrina -- the movie star is part of a commitment to build 150 new homes in the city's Lower Ninth Ward.

Brad is partnering with producer and philanthropist STEVE BING on his "Make It Right" project, which aims to re-build the New Orleans community that was hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina.

"The heart and soul of New Orleans, specifically the people of the Lower 9th Ward, are paramount to this project," said Brad, who announced his plan at today's meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative in New York, a forum aimed at solving some of the world's most pressing challenges.

"The words of one elderly man who is determined to return to New Orleans led to the name of our organization: He asked us, directly simply and profoundly, to help make it right. So that's what we're doing," he said.

Pitt and Bing each pledged to match $5 million in contributions to the project. The actor also outlined "Make It Right"'s plans for sustainable, green housing in the Lower Ninth: "We're going to help to make it right with 150 sustainable, affordable houses," he said, adding that the houses will "stand out for their design both aesthetically and structurally, so that these people can live in beautiful safe structures that respect their spirit and provide a good quality of life."
