Jerry joins Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey for the second season premiere of "30 Rock."
Hot off its Emmy win for Outstanding Comedy Series, "30 Rock" launches its second season tonight with a major casting coup. JERRY SEINFELD makes his first-ever appearance on a sitcom other than his own.
"I'm a big fan of the show," the Emmy-winning comedian replies when asked how "30 Rock" convinced him to come on board. "I'm a big fan of ALEC BALDWIN and TINA FEY. I just thought it would be fun, and they just thought it would be fun. I like the show, so why not?"
On tonight's episode, premiering at 9 p.m. on NBC, the gang at "30 Rock" returns from their summer hiatus, giving Jack (Baldwin) the opportunity to tell Liz (Fey) all about his latest brainstorm: SeinfeldVision, a concept in which he edits footage of Jerry from old "Seinfeld" episodes into NBC's current shows.
"It really had nothing to do with 'Bee Movie,'" Jerry insists, although the movie, opening in theaters on Nov. 2, becomes an integral part of the plot. "They put it in the script. I really didn't ask them to, but everybody thought it was funny."
Also on the second season premiere, we find out that Liz and Floyd have broken up, and while she is pretending all is well, the end of the relationship leads her to some bizarre behavior. Also, Jenna (JANE KRAKOWSKI) has gained weight over the summer, as a result of starring on Broadway in Mystic Pizza: The Musical!
"I feel there's something about the tone of this show that feels fresh and funny," Jerry says, encouraging viewers to tune in. "It's what I look for. It's comedic tone just hits right, and it's a funny show. That's what everyone is looking for."
For viewers who have just discovered the critically acclaimed comedy, catch up on season one by purchasing the "30 Rock" DVD, now in stores.
