"Dancing with the Stars"' brother and sister duo -- DEREK HOUGH and JULIANNE HOUGH -- drop by Stage 28 for a two-on-one interview with ET's MARY HART. The dancers tell the ET host that they started dancing as kids, growing up in Utah.

"My mom saw us as the blond OSMOND family," Derek explains. "We started playing drums and piano at a young age, and then we went to dance classes. To tell you the truth, I didn't like it."

That all changed for Derek when he discovered that girls liked boys who could dance.

The two began their association with "Dancing with the Stars" as backup dancers on the summer tour, and then were invited to join the show.

Julianne, of course, is last year's dance champion. And, if early indications hold true, she and her new partner HELIO CASTRONEVES have a shot at this year's disco ball trophy.

"It was funny because everybody was, 'Helio's Brazilian, he has that Latin blood,' and he does somewhere, but I have been trying to pull it out of him," says Julianne, rating her dance partner. "He says, 'I am in a race car. If I move my hips, it is dangerous." I have been so blessed. Last season, I had APOLO [ANTON OHNO] as a partner. Both of them are genuine sweet people. That makes my life so much easier."

As for whether the men or the women are stronger competitors this season, Derek comments, "I think the females are always a little more serious as far as wanting to be the best ballroom dancer. The men are, 'Hey, let's learn some dancing, but have a great time,' which is why I think they do so well, because that comes across."
