Hollywood heavyweights DENZEL WASHINGTON and RUSSELL CROWE hit the town on Monday night for the premiere of the highly anticipated crime drama 'American Gangster' at the ArcLight Theater in Los Angeles.

Russell told ET working with Denzel was "Fantastic...It was very easy and very cool."

The RIDLEY SCOTT-directed film, out this Friday, is based on the story of real-life drug kingpin FRANK LUCAS and the New York City detective on his trail.
