Stars Talk About Writers Strike

The writers strike is on and some of America's top shows and movies are in jeopardy. ET was with a number of celebrities over the weekend who opened up on what this means for Hollywood.

"I think it will impact [Hollywood] hugely, everything changes," JOSH BROLIN tells ET, saying he remembers the affect the strike had in 1988. "I remember people selling their houses."

'Enchanted' star SUSAN SARANDON told our THEA ANDREWS she thought this was a serious situation and that she and her fellow actors may end up next year having, "a summer with no work."

VINCE VAUGHN also weighed in on the situation. "A strike is never good for anybody but I'll honor whatever they decide and I think that's the right thing to do," he said at the 'Fred Claus' premiere. "It's never easy thing to go through."

Vince's pal and 'Elf' director JON FAVREAU says he can understand why this is happening. "Both sides have a point," he says. "I don't know any way that it's going to be resolved easily. It's unfortunate for a guy like me who's waited his whole life to make movies and then to be told to take time off and not work on what you love is always frustrating. But there are issues that have to be resolved fairly."

"Heroes" star MASI OKA reveals this will definitely affect his hit show. "It affects so many people and my heart actually goes out to our crew because they don't have anything to gain," he says. "So hopefully we can resolve this very quickly."

"Grey's Anatomy" top doc PATRICK DEMPSEY says how this strike will have a trickle down affect. "My concern is not so much for myself really, because I'll be alright, but I think how long this strike lasts is going to affect a lot of people that are living paycheck to paycheck -- they are going to be damaged profoundly by this, and I think that's a real tragedy," he said. "I think a lot of people and a lot of families are going to be in a difficult place in their lives; hopefully we can come to some sort of understanding and resolve this soon enough that it doesn't affect those people."

According to CBS, "The Late Show With DAVID LETTERMAN" will be repeats all week as will "The Tonight Show with JAY LENO." The cast for the hit HBO show "Entourage" say the strike directly affects their show, while shows like "The View" will not be interrupted. "Contingency plans have been made in the event of a strike," the femme chatfest said in a statement. "'The View' will continue without interruption."

ABC soap operas will also go on as planned. "ABC's daytime dramas are written well into the New Year," they said in a statment. "We will continue to produce original programming with no repeats and without interruption."
