ET's exclusive 'Sex and the City' set visit continues when our very own COJO goes one-on-one with KIM CATTRALL, who plays the Auntie Mame-like Samantha, a woman who believes that variety -- when it comes to men -- is the spice of life.
That said, when the series ended, Samantha was in her first real relationship -- with a younger man -- Smith Jarrod, played by JASON LEWIS, who stood by her through her chemotherapy for breast cancer.
"She wants to continue to be at this smorgasbord and pick and taste and choose," Kim tells Cojo. "That's where Samantha and I are not alike at all. But I have found so much joy in playing her, because I can't do the things that Samantha does. Not very many people can. I remember years ago when we had to do a scene where Samantha got naked to get her picture taken, I had a real problem with that as Kim. It wasn't until I went behind a curtain and did some of Samantha's lines that I could embody that amount of freedom."
When the movie begins, Samantha, who is a publicist, is having to spend more of her time in Hollywood for business, so she is really missing her girlfriends. Plus, she is having trouble dealing with an upcoming birthday which will see her turning a very, very big number.
"I had to get back in training," Kim says of returning to the role. "Not just for losing weight and feeling trim to get into Samantha mode, but also just for the long hours on stilettos that I was not used to."
'Sex and the City' is scheduled to open on May 30, 2008.
