CARNIE WILSON is back with a new Christmas album -- and candid confessions about her struggle with weight!
"I've been through morbid obesity where I was going to die," says Carnie, who underwent gastric bypass surgery in 1999 when she weighed an estimated 300 pounds, "to a very, very healthy weight, in a size six or a size eight, feeling so great -- back to 240 pounds after I had [my] baby. It's never going to be what I want it to be, always when I want it to be."
Carnie says she's "struggling with 30 [pounds] now," and in announcing it to the world she's hoping people with similar struggles can find power in her own fight. In fact, she has a great Web site, www.LiteandHope.com, that addresses all sorts of weight issues.
"What I've realized now is that I am really blessed, because I have the ability to reach millions of people," she says, "and millions of people are really suffering from this disease and they need my help."
Examining the core reason why she would overeat, Carnie reveals, "I'm an addict, and I've been in recovery for over three years for drugs and alcohol."
Admittedly once drinking 10 martinis a day, Carnie says she has been clean and sober for over three years. And fueling her positive direction is the love she gets from her 2-year-old daughter LOLA and hubby ROB BONFIGLIO, who engineered Carnie's new holiday CD, Christmas with Carnie, in stores now.
"Most of the songs were recorded in my pajamas on my couch in our studio at home," says Carnie, adding that Lola even gets into the act. "[Having her is] the most incredible thing I've ever done, and it just changes your perception of love, you know?"
