COURTENEY COX, now in production on the second season of "Dirt," FX's look at the no-holds-barred world of celebrity journalism, took time out to talk to ET about the show and its first season DVD.

"I think they like the show," the former "Friends" star says of the paparazzi. "I think they get a kick out of a show that is about them. So, I think they are nicer to me than they used to be, but not all of them, of course."

"Dirt," for those who missed the first season, is about the seamy side of Hollywood, with Courteney playing Hollywood gossip queen Lucy Spiller. So has that changed her opinion of the photographers who will do anything to get the perfect photo?

"I don't mind people taking my picture in 99 percent of places, but when it gets into what you consider your private home, or your privacy, it's like, 'One minute.' Mostly, I get protective around COCO [her daughter with hubby DAVID ARQUETTE]."

Season two of "Dirt" is going to be even more of a family affair than the first season, with David, who is an executive producer of the series along with Courteney, directing his wife in an episode and his sister, ROSANNA ARQUETTE, doing a cameo part.

Also in season two, look for Lucy to have not one, but two romances.

"The difference is in season two you explore her personal life a little more," Courteney tells ET. "She gets hot and heavy. She starts with an actor named DANNY COMDEN and then gets into another one."

"Dirt: The Complete First Season" DVD will be in stores on Tuesday, December 11, and Courteney says when it comes to bonus features: "There is stuff with me and David, an introspective look at Don Conke and his schizophrenia -- and just a lot of good stuff. The whole season is interesting. Once you get in, it is like a little web. It is hard to get out."
