Barry Manilow on Ice!

No, the Grammy winner isn't really on the ice -- he's playing some of his favorite '70s tunes as DOROTHY HAMILL, BRIAN BOITANO and other Olympic medalists perform on skates!

"What, do you want to break my neck?" Barry jokes with ET. "I was walking through town today, and people asked me what I'm doing. I said, 'I'm doing an ice skating show.' [They said,] 'Really? We didn't know you ice skated!' [And I said,] 'No, no, not me, I'm not ice skating!'"

Barry provided live musical accompaniment for the "Brian Boitano Skating Spectacular Starring Musical Guest Barry Manilow" at AT&T Park in San Francisco, the home of the San Francisco GIANTS baseball team -- and now, for the first time ever, the site of an ice show. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the George Mark Children's House for kids who have serious or terminal illnesses.

So, how did this whole event come together? "Brian Boitano's a friend, and so he called," explains Barry. "My new '70s album came out and he was crazy about it, and he said, 'Let's do a whole evening of '70s songs.' I loved it -- I said yes immediately."

Dorothy Hamill skates to Barry's "Weekend in New England," and Barry gushes, "She's just timeless -- she just never changes and she's so great at what she does, she's just amazing. Beautiful girl; beautiful inside too. Just great."

Dorothy gushes right back, admitting, "I've been a 'Fanilow' forever -- even when it wasn't cool to be a Barry Manilow fan." She says "Weekend in New England" is her favorite Barry Manilow song, and she tells ET, "Every time I hear it I love it more. I think it's his best."

As for how she manages to look so great 30 years after winning her gold medal, she says, "I'm very lucky that my job happens to be physical activity, because otherwise I don't think I'd be in very good shape -- but skating is such very good exercise."
