The legendary daredevil will be laid to rest today.
The funeral for EVEL KNIEVEL will be held today at the Butte Civic Center in the late daredevil's hometown of Butte, Mont., with Crystal Cathedral founder Rev. ROBERT SCHULLER officiating, Associated Press reports. A large number of mourners are expected to gather at the Civic Center, which can hold about 10,000 people. Knievel's hearse was greeted by fireworks as it arrived in town Sunday.
Following the service, the body of the motorcycle stuntman will be driven down the six-mile loop in Butte that bears his name -- Evel Knievel Way. A private burial is planned.
Knievel was 69 years old when he passed away November 30 in Florida. He was reported to be in declining health for years, suffering from a variety of ailments including diabetes and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, an incurable lung condition.
