Christmas on the Tube December 12-24, 2007![]() Copyright 2007 Cliff Lipson / CBS Santa Claus is coming to town and, if you have any doubt, turn on the tube and check out your favorite holiday shows! WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 12 "Holiday Switch" NICOLE EGGERT stars as Paula, a frustrated housewife who makes a Christmas wish to leave her current daily grind for a more extravagant lifestyle. "All I Want for Christmas" Jesse (JIMMY JAX PINCHAK), a nine-year-old boy, enters a toy company-sponsored contest in which entrants are asked for their greatest Christmas wish. Unbeknownst to his widowed mother, Sara (GAIL O'GRADY), he asks them to help his mom find a new husband. What follows is a whirlwind of interviews and dating, with cameras following her every move. "Christmas in Washington: Dr. PHIL and ROBIN McGRAW return for a fourth year as hosts of TNT's annual presentation, featuring popular recording artists -- such as NE-YO, VANESSA HUDGENS, ALAN JACKSON, ANDREA BOCELLI and KATHARINE McPHEE -- performing for the President and First Lady and other Washington VIPs. This concert celebrates the holiday in musical style while benefiting the National Children's Medical Center. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13 'The Polar Express' Based on the Caldecott Medal children's book by CHRIS VAN ALLSBURG, 'The Polar Express' tells the tale of a doubting young boy who takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole and embarks on a journey of self-discovery that shows him the wonder of life never fades for those who believe. "Supernatural" "A Very Supernatural Christmas" -- It's Christmas time and Sam (JARED PADALECKI) and Dean (JENSEN ACKLES) investigate a series of murders where the victims were pulled up through the chimney. Sam realizes they are dealing with a sort of anti-Santa, a demon with roots in pagan lore. Dean wants to celebrate Christmas the old-fashioned way as this is his last, but Sam refuses, not wanting to accept that Dean won't be around next year. Sam flashes back to a certain Christmas when he waited for his father to come home to give him a special gift. "The Note" When Peyton MacGruder (GENIE FRANCIS), a struggling human interest columnist, happens upon a note written by one of the victims of an airline crash, she makes it her mission to deliver it to the intended recipient by Christmas, bringing her readers along for the journey and unexpectedly confronting her own demons in the process. FRIDAY, DECEMBER 14 "Ghost Whisperer" "Holiday Spirit" -- A ghost who believes he is Santa Claus has lost touch with the true meaning of Christmas and Melinda (JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT) must help him find his way back. 'It's A Wonderful Life' FRANK CAPRA's 'It's a Wonderful Life,' the 1946 holiday classic feature film starring JAMES STEWART, DONNA REED and LIONEL BARRYMORE returns for another holiday season. The film follows the life of George Bailey (Stewart) from childhood to maturity in the town of Bedford Falls. On what might be his last Christmas Eve, a discouraged Bailey wants to throw his life away. Fortunately, Clarence (HENRY TRAVERS), a second-class angel, is sent to show him the value of life. After Clarence gives Bailey a view of Bedford Falls without him, Bailey realizes how precious his life is and gets a second chance. He comes to learn that Clarence was right when he said, "No man is a failure who has friends." "Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas" JIM CARREY stars in this classic holiday tale based on the DR. SEUSS book about a mean and bitter old Grinch who dislikes holiday cheer so much that he decides to steal Christmas away from all the Whos in Whoville. ANTHONY HOPKINS narrates. SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15 "Surviving Christmas" Drew Latham (BEN AFFLECK) is a young, wealthy executive who seems to only have money as his true and sole companion during the holidays. Not looking forward to another Christmas alone, he sets off to revisit his childhood neighborhood in hopes of reliving some old holiday memories. What he fails to foresee is that his childhood home is now very different. For one thing, there's a married couple (JAMES GANDOLFINI and CATHERINE O'HARA) living in it. Undeterred, Drew offers them a ridiculously generous reward if they'll help him relive Christmases past, setting up a series of ho-ho-ho's and ha-ha-ha's that are sure to put you in the spirit of the season. "Snowglobe" In the new ABC Family original movie, a mystical snowglobe transports Angela (CHRISTINA MILIAN), who longs for the "perfect" Christmas away from her boisterous family, into an idyllic holiday winter wonderland. "Christmas in Paradise" Two bereaved families take a holiday vacation to an exotic Caribbean island over Christmas week to escape the memories of Christmas past -- and the parents find romance. Dan (COLIN FERGUSON), a divorced dad, and Dana (CHARLOTTE ROSS), a widow, and kids develop bonds over the course of the cruise and their two-day stay at a beautiful Puerto Rican beach resort. Late Christmas Eve comes the big curve ball -- Dan's ex-wife shows up to reclaim her family. SUNDAY, DECEMBER 16 "All I Want for Christmas" Jesse (JIMMY JAX PINCHAK), a nine-year-old boy, enters a toy company-sponsored contest in which entrants are asked for their greatest Christmas wish. "The Road to Christmas" Claire's (JENNIFER GREY) plans for a storybook Christmas Eve wedding in Aspen are derailed when a tremendous storm paralyzes the region. Forced to hitchhike to reach her wedding, the soon-to-be bride meets a widower and his 12-year old daughter. There's an undeniable attraction, and on the eve of her wedding, Claire will have to decide between her millionaire fiancé and this new man in her life. "A Diva's Christmas Carol" VANESSA WILLIAMS stars in this updated version of the classic "A Christmas Carol" as Ebony Scrooge, one of the world's most successful -- and cold-hearted -- pop singers. Ebony receives the prerequisite visit from three spirits: The Ghost of Christmas Past (KATHY GRIFFIN), the Ghost of Christmas Present (JOHN TAYLOR from DURAN DURAN), and the Ghost of Christmas Future who will hopefully turn Ebony's life around. MONDAY, DECEMBER 17 "Lost Holiday: The Jim and Suzanne Shemwell Story" Estranged couple Suzanne (JAMI GERTZ) and Jim (DYLAN WALSH find themselves in a life-or-death ordeal when they are accidentally trapped in a blizzard during a snowmobiling trip gone wrong. With Christmas days away, only a miracle can get them home for the holiday. "Lost Holiday" is based on a true story. SUNDAY, DECEMBER 23 "Christmas in Connecticut" BARBARA STANWYCK stars as a homemaking specialist who can't boil water, but is forced to provide a family holiday for a WWII war hero (DENNIS MORGAN). MONDAY, DECEMBER 24 "A Christmas Story" PETER BILLINGSLEY, DARREN McGAVIN and MELINDA DILLON star as an all-American 1940s family. Billingsley plays Ralphie, a boy who has to convince his parents, teachers and Santa that a Red Ryder BB gun is the perfect Christmas gift. ![]() |
