"American Gladiators" returns to the tube with a series of upgraded versions of the classic games, and 24 contenders who will do battle against the show's Gladiators in a contest of physical strength and endurance.
Hosted by HULK HOGAN and LAILA ALI, the series premieres on NBC on Sunday, January 6, from 9 to 11 p.m.
"When I first walked into the American Gladiator arena, I was totally impressed. It took me back to my roots," Hogan says.
The new games will include upgrades of such classic events as Joust, The Wall, Hang Tough and the Eliminator, along with two brand-new events including Earthquake and Hit & Run.
"There is a going to be a crash in the middle of the arena every time an event happens," Hogan claims. "They have raised the bar one more time. It is going to be off-the-wall!"
The final male and female contenders left standing win $100,000 -- and the opportunity to become Gladiators next season.
